Situated on the highest point in Wembley Downs, looking south to the natural bush reserve and golf course, the home responds to its steep topography and natural landscape in a unique way.

The footprint of the home has been worked around the huge existing native trees, set at an angle of 35 degrees to the block. This design strategy ensured the local tree canopy could continue to contribute to the natural beauty of local area, for everyone to enjoy.

From the street the street the form lays low, hunkering down and hiding under the trees.

However, looks can be deceiving.

Instead of working against the natural topography of the site we positioned the structure to work in conjunction with the steep slope, with the undercroft level being built below the main floor, allowing the living areas of the house to sit on a single level and capture the beautiful views beyond.

From our clients

We engaged Stack design to undertake design of our family home on a challenging block on a hillside in Wembley Downs.

Having now completed the build with Litehouse Building, and having been living in the home for a few months, we’re still noticing parts of Kyle's design working practically on a daily basis.

A design of the highest quality and thought has delivered a very unique and practical home to live in.

The fact that Kyle was able to work closely with the builder, planning, council and the owners ensured a smooth transition from concept to reality.

A bespoke design we’re very proud of and pleased to recommend Stack design to anyone.
